Energy Days

On the 4th of July we went to Energy Days at the Fairgrounds. That's right....instead of calling it a 4th of July celebration it's called Energy Days here. It is sponsored by the gas/oil/coal industry businesses that make up most of the jobs in our county, so I guess it makes sense. We hadn't ever gone to it before (this was only the second year they've done it) so we weren't really sure what to expect. It turned out to be an awesome evening of totally free activities. The biggest hit for our kids was the laser tag. They hadn't ever played laser tag before but it didn't take them long to realize how much fun it was. Zac especially liked it. The boys all did three rounds (each round being at least 10 minutes long).

There were also several bouncers.  Drake and Garrett went on the obstacle course one over and over again.
Zac and Lexi were tall enough to try out the mechanical bull.  It's apparently a lot harder than it looks!
They did have free hotdogs, drinks, watermelon, chips, popcorn and icecream, but since we were planning on going to our friends house for dinner afterwards we just got a bag of chips and a drink for a snack.
Inside the events center they had crafts and cupcake decorating.  We skipped the crafts but the kids really didn't want to skip the cupcakes.
The kids were pretty excited that they got to drink a diet Pepsi (gross! But that's all that was left by the time we went to the food tables.)

It was a fun evening and we are all looking forward to more fun at Energy Days next year!
