Swimming & The Zoo

Last Wednesday and Thursday I took the kids to go spend some time with my family. Poor Tyson had to miss out again this time because of his summer teaching. But I wanted to see my sister Heide again before she left to go back to Florida. First we went to my Uncle Jon's house and swam in his totally amazing pool. The kids had a blast and Drake loved going down the slide with Uncle Bucky (my sister Anna's husband). Lexi and Tess got brave jumping off the waterfall. Even Zac was swimming all over the place (with a life jacket on) which is unusual for him. He usually sticks to the shallow end. Garrett seemed a little timid still from his multiple almost drownings of our last swimming adventure so he played in the kiddie area which has it's own little slide. He kept saying "I am not going down!" meaning, of course, that he didn't want to go under the water. I loved the cute signs they have hanging around the pool. One says "No skinny dipping...until after 6 p.m." but my personal favorite was "I don't skinny dip, I chunky dunk." Ahhh...you gotta love nudity humor!

These are 2 of my sisters Heide and Anna. Sara had to stay home and be the responsible one and make milkshakes for tourists.

The next day we loaded up two vans full of people and went to Hogle Zoo. I haven't been there since I was a little kid. I forgot how many hills there are at the zoo. Of course Drake and Garrett didn't want to ride in their stroller. At least not until we got to the hilly part and then all of a sudden they needed to sit down and make me push them up the hill! Oh well, it was a good workout at least. Drake really loved the Giraffes. Garrett and Zac liked the snakes. And Lexi thought the black swans were pretty cool. I personally liked the picnic. It was a well deserved rest! Thanks Mom and Dad for treating us to a fun time!

Every single person in this picture knew that I was trying to take a picture of them and yet none of them are looking. Come on dad...set a better example!
