Heaton Basketball Camp #2

Just a few more random thoughts and pictures to finalize our week at the Heaton Basketball Camp. My Grandma Carolyn is a serious crafter and even has her own craft store to prove it. So we always have some craft or other in process during basketball camp. This year we each decorated our own Oriental Trading mug and designed boomerangs.

This is a picture of my kids with their first cousins who also participated in the camp (besides Gavin.) Most of the other kids are really my first cousins, but they are my kids' ages. I didn't get a group picture of the whole crew this year. We were gone fishing (no, really we were!) when they gathered everyone together for that picture.
Every year my mom reserves the town swimming pool for all the cousins to swim for a couple of hours. Even though we go swimming tons during the summer my kids really look forward to swimming with all the cousins at basketball camp. This year was the year of the Noodle Wars! Boy, were they worn out and begging to go to sleep early that night!

My brother Gerry and his wife, Jill, always let us stay in their camp trailer during the camp. It is so nice for us because we have a place of our own and can get away from the big crowd at my parents whenever we want. It makes it easier for me to get my kids to bed at a decent hour so they can get up bright and early in the morning. It's also nice to be able to shower in Gerry's house and not have to fight for shower time/hot water with the other 40+ Heatons! This is as close as we ever come to camping so we all really enjoy it. We always try to leave Gerry's family some kind of Thank You gift. This year the kids helped me make a candy bar poster that we left for them (in the house so it wouldn't melt!) Kinda dorky, yeah, but who doesn't love a candy bar poster!

And that's it for this year's Basketball Camp. We had a really great time but were happy to make it back home Friday afternoon to see Tyson and sleep in our own beds! Summer is exhausting but so much fun!
