Tyson really loves his photography. So much so that he hangs out late at night out in the boonies taking night shots. Recently he has been mostly focused on taking pictures of lightning and star trails. The college has an email system just for sending out random things like jokes, cool photos, garage sale type postings etc. So Tyson sent a few of his best photos so all his colleagues could see them. He's had several people want to buy them which is really exciting for him because he's got his eye on yet another camera and is saving up for it. Then today the president of the college told him he'd seen his photo on the front page of yesterdays local newspaper. So I picked one up today and sure enough it's right on the front page! This is the second time Tyson has made the Sun Advocate. The first one was because he was pretty much the only faculty member in favor of the merger with Utah State. Or at least one of the only ones willing to stand up for it.
This is my favorite of his star trail pictures. He kept his shutter open for 2 hours and the concentric rings are the movement the stars made during that time frame. I'd never even heard of a star trail before but it's pretty awesome.
