Last Thursday night was the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and we had all three boys participating (it was one more day before Zac would be too old for it!) Bill, Tyson, Drake, Garrett and Zac spent a whole weekend about a month ago making three really great cars. Our boys were very happy with the results. Zac has always placed in the Derby but had never won 1st place until this year. They raced four times and he won all four times with his purple car by a pretty good margin. Zac was a very happy boy that night! Garrett won second place with his orange and black car. Drake ended up being about middle of the pack. He consistently got 2nd or 3rd place in all his heats but couldn't quite get that first place spot. He was a little frustrated that he didn't win, but he was a very good sport about it. Grandpa Bill and Grandma Susan came over to watch the Derby too. We all had a fun time watching the heats and seeing how much fun the boys were having!
Memorable Moment: The night of the Pinewood Derby we had a rather exciting event happen at about 2:30 in the morning. Garrett had woken up and thrown up, so Tyson and I were awake and Tyson decided to go outside and see what position the moon and Milky Way were in because he is planning to do some night photography soon. He glanced over toward the driveway and saw a man rummaging through our van (which I had not locked! Ooops!) Long story short...he ended up wrestling the guy down to the ground, yelled at me to call the cops, and then held him there until they showed up to arrest the guy! Wow! What an adventure! (Sorry, no pictures. I was too busy calling 911!)
