Hoyt Reunion Day #2

The second day of the reunion found us all donning our lime green shirts and then Tyson and I fixed everyone an awesome omelet and toast. It really is quite hard to determine how much food you need to feed 40 people.  Luckily though we ended up having too much rather than too little.

Then we all headed to the town of Alton which is where my dad grew up and where my mom and dad lived when they were first married. We met at the town park and the kids went on a Magic Tree House themed treasure hunt in which Grandpa dressed up as a pirate and read the clues in his best pirate voice. The best clue was the one hidden in baby Houston's diaper! Lexi, Tess, and Kinlee were in charge of planning the treasure hunt and they did a really great job.

We all had a chance to sign Grandma Debbie's reunion apron too. I wrote my name inside of a heart and wrote "Mom's Favorite" next to it. Next thing I know everyone is writing that they are her favorite! Hmmmmpppphhh!

Then each family was given a kite and we flew kites for awhile on the big lawn at the park.

When it was time for lunch we joined the other Hoyt reunion (my grandpa's surviving relatives) for a potluck meal. It's tradition to have mutton (most of grandpa Dill's family were sheep herders), dutch oven potatoes and homemade rootbeer.

After that we went back to the cabin and younger boys took a nap. Then we spent the rest of the day making bead necklaces, painting nails, and playing games.
We all had a really great time at the reunion and can't wait until we get to do it again next year!
