Drake and Garrett have had another undefeated season. In fact, they have killed every single team they've played...sometimes by 13 points or more! Sometimes their coach makes them pass to every single player on the team before they can try to score, or that have to shoot left footed or some other kind of handicap so they don't demoralize the other team quite so badly! These first two pictures of them are showing some of their celebrations after they score. Both have had several hat tricks this season (three or more goals per game.)
Zac is playing on a Competitive team and they play all their games up in Utah Valley against really tough teams. They are also playing up, meaning most of our players are 11 but are playing 13 year olds. We had our first win last Saturday and it was very exciting! Zac started out the season playing Left Wing Defender but was moved up to play Right Wing Forward which made it so he has a chance to score now. He has scored each of the last few games since he started that new position. He has a very powerful kick and can score from way back. After last Saturdays game he went with his friends Jackson Smith, Jackson Griffeth, and Dylan Curtis to play in a 3 v 3 tournament in Salt Lake. They also had a little boy, William, who has leukemia playing with them. They won the whole tournament for their age group. Zac was very happy about that.
I love that my kids enjoy being active and have all found a sport that they enjoy. It is always fun to watch them whether they win or lose. Now on to Futsal...my favorite season!
On a related note, last month we went to our first Real Salt Lake professional soccer game. RSL lost but it was still fun to go. And we all had the fight song in our heads for the rest of the week "If you believe then you stand up on your feet. We're here for RSL! Here at the riot the battle has begun. We're here for RSL!" We took Bill, Susan and Shay for their Christmas present...from last year. Yes, it took us 9 months to finally give them their present even though we told them about it last December. But at least we finally got around to it and everyone had a fun time.
