All Decked Out!

One of our big projects for the summer has been Operation Deck Repair. Our deck is very old, probably as old as the house itself which was built in 1980. It was very faded and splintery and needed a little TLC. We started out with Tyson using his dad's belt sander to sand it down as much as he could. Even with that big sander it took several hours a day for about 3 days! I'm glad we didn't try to use my little sander. Then Tyson, Lexi, and I (yes, I was there even if there's no photographic evidence!) stained the whole thing. It took a couple of days and we had a few good rainstorms that caused some problems and delays, but we finally got it finished. In fact, one day we were actually painting the stain on and all of a sudden there was a cloudburst and it poured rain, fading out some of what we had just done. No, it doesn't look like a brand new deck....but it looks a whole lot better! It was actually pretty enjoyable to work on a big project together.
