Murphy Reunion: Hiking

Of course it wouldn't be a trip to Sundance if you didn't do a little hiking! We attempted to hike to the Stewart Falls waterfall on Saturday but could not seem to find the trailhead. After several failed attempts we decided to go back to the cabin and let Tyson and his dad figure it out so we could go the next day. They definitely don't make it easy to find! There are no signs and if you ask the people at the ski lodge they tell you that you have to pay to ride the lift up and then hike down. We knew you could go from the bottom and not have to pay for the ride so we just figured it out on our own. It was a fairly narrow trail that hugged the side of the mountain for about a mile and a half. You could see the water fall quite a long time before you actually got to it. Poor Zac learned what Stinging Nettle was by personal experience! It was all over near the trail and by the waterfall. Luckily when he got it on him it was near the waterfall so he was able to get in the water and try to wash it off. He did get some pretty good hives from it though.

Our last day there we went to see Cascade Springs up in the Uinta Forrest. It was a pretty little area with easy, paved and/or boardwalk walking trails going through a nature area with some pretty little waterfalls and rushing streams. Tyson took lots of pretty pictures but I'll have to put them in a different post. Drake and Garrett were also very interested in using my camera to take pictures. They got some really nice ones! We might have a whole family of photographers before you know it! We drove down the Alpine loop road into American Fork and then came home. It was a great adventure but we were also ready to get back to our real lives! Thanks to Susan, Helen and all the rest of the Murphy Clan who made our vacation so much fun!
