This past week we have been having one more big, fun-filled vacation before school starts on Monday! On Tuesday we did another big day at Lagoon Amusement Park using our bounceback tickets, which means we were able to go for $15 a piece instead of $50, which was very nice. We still didn't ride the new ride, Cannibal, because the lines were horrendously long (and because a few of us are fraidy cats!) but we did do all the other rides at least once or twice. The weather was very nice and the lines weren't too bad, especially in the morning. Lexi and Drake love the big rides, like Wicked, and Garrett and Zac like the spinny rides, though they did go on some of the big ones too. Zac was nervous about Collosus at first but he faced his fears and got so he really liked it. Tyson has a tendency to get motion sickness, so he had to be careful to avoid anything that spins....or watching anyone else on a ride that spins! We had a fantastic day! These pictures were taken on my phone, which doesn't have the best camera, but they are better than nothing...which is what I took the last time we went to Lagoon a week ago!
After Lagoon we drove up to Logan for Tyson's annual training meetings at USU. He had to spend Wednesday and Friday in meetings while the rest of us played! We finished up the kids school shopping, which only involved a few threats ("If you don't stop bothering your brother I will buy those Frozen underwear and make you wear them!" By the way, the Frozen underwear were for boys...with Olaf on them...weird! Certain individuals adjusted their behavior very quickly!) I discovered that Garrett only likes Marvel superhero shirts, Zac only wants dry fit sports attire, Drake can't make a decision to save his life but is going to be wearing a lot of stripes this year, and Lexi is too cute and should be locked up for 10 years!
That afternoon we met my friend Kelly Cromwell at the park. Kelly and I met in Memphis way back when my Lexi, and Kelly's son Logan, were newborns. Now they are both nearing 13! (Side note: Tyson briefly dated her sister when he was in high school....but we're going to just pretend that didn't ever happen! It's sure a small world!) Kelly moved to Logan a few years before we moved back to Utah. We have made it a point to go visit her every year when we go up to Logan. She's one of those friends who is easy to re-connect with no matter how long it's been. We had a picnic and a great chat!
On Thursday Tyson didn't have any meetings, except for a dinner that night which I went to with him. So we went to the Cache Valley Fun Park to rollerblade. I have been suggesting to Tyson for years that he should try rollerblading, but he kept saying he thought it was "too far to fall." He was a little wobbly in the beginning, but he picked it up really fast and only gracelessly encountered the pressed concrete floor with his gluteus maximus one time. He had a blast and even made us go to two different sporting goods stores to try to find him a pair of blades to buy. Unfortunately, because of his freakishly large feet, we may have to order some online instead! We also had some really cheesy pizza and breadsticks, with a pitcher of Dr. Pepper for our lunch. It was a really fun afternoon! I love rollerblading and I love that my whole family can do it together (even if Lexi isn't a huge fan!)
The kids really enjoyed the hotel pool this year. They literally went swimming all three days we were there. Ironically, the kids in the picture behind them are our neighbors. I guess we have to drive clear across the state to hang out with the neighbor kids (their dad also works at the college and was there for training too.)
It was such a fun vacation but we were glad to get back home. And we have determined we are just going to stay home for awhile now! It seems like we've been on the go all summer and now we need to get back into a routine!
