Jazz with a Capital J
A few days ago my friend Shawn Herzog messaged me on Facebook to say there would be a jazz player at the college the next day. In my mind I was imagining someone playing soul tunes with a saxaphone. You know...classy, smooth, pour-your-heart-out-through-your-music kind of a thing. I told her that it sounded like a great thing to take the kids to because you need to slip a little culture into their summer whenever you can. That's when she replied, "A Jazz BASKETBALL player is coming to the college!" We had a good laugh about the misunderstanding, she agreed to always use a capital J when referring to the Jazz, and then we met at the college gym the next day to meet Demarre Carroll #3 who is a small forward for the Utah Jazz (and who didn't bring a saxaphone! I'll bet that imposter doesn't even own a saxaphone!) The kids all got a free t-shirt and then they played games with Carrol and got autographs and pictures. Now we are all geared up to head to the Heaton basketball camp tomorrow for a week of cousins, watermelon, dirty clothes, playing in the creek, and, of course, basketball!
