Dinosaur Museum Activity

Last Thursday we went to the Mom & Me playgroup Prehistoric Museum field trip.  The paleontologist there gives the best tours!  He is super good with kids and can really keep them interested.  Here he's talking to them about Native American culture.

Here they are looking at a Fremont Indian dwelling.
All the kids (at least 30) crowded into the Teepee to hear the story of Coyote and the Blanket. It's a pretty long story and yet none of the kids make a peep and by the end of the story they have crowded clear up around the story teller.

This is the part of the tour where he talks to them about the sabre tooth cat and the dire wolf and some huge bear that I can't remember what it's called.  He was talking about how the bear didn't kill it's own prey but would just find a dire wolf with a fresh kill and then pick it up and carry it off.  Drake was a little shocked to become part of the object lesson!

Then they went to the Dinosaur section of the museum.

They each got to pet the water monitor.  Their favorite part of the museum is the live alligator and the two lizards.
