Today we had a Day of Service activity with the members of our Stake. The kids had been at grandma and grandpa's for the week but they really wanted to go to the Day of Service, so we went and picked them up on Friday night. They were so exhausted and I thought they would never be able to get up early to go to the service project but they surprised me. We arrived at the park at 7:00 a.m. for a little breakfast before we got to work.
They had lots of projects planned all over town. We got sent to an old school that is now being used as a community center to help out with a little...or a lot....of weeding. The kids did so awesome! I kept thinking they would quit soon but they never did and finally three hours later I decided we'd done enough!
Here's a before picture of one section that we worked on.
After we were done it looked like this....
After a little Coldstone ice cream (the owner of Coldstone is in our ward), we were able to go swimming with some of our church friends. The city opened the pool for us to swim for free as a thank you for all our hard work.
I should probably add that Tyson was with us at the Day of Service. But he had received a special assignment to photograph the event, so we didn't see much of him since he was driving around to all the work sites with his camera. To see more pictures of our projects visit CHAPPELLSHOTS
Also, just a side note. My daughter proved today that she can walk on water. Yes, she really is that cool!
