Around here we do things a little differently and instead of having Independence Day activities on the 4th of July we call it Energy Days. It just reflects the fact that the people footing the bill for all the festivities are the big gas, coal, oil and electrical businesses. It's always lots of fun and we have to make sure we are in town so the kids can go. They always have free hotdogs/chips/watermelon/drinks and later free Coldstone icecream. There are also lots of bouncy houses and games and live entertainment. And, of course, they always finish off with fireworks. This year Tyson and I mostly just spent the time with Drake and Garrett and our teenagers ditched us for their friends! Hence, the reason I have no pictures of Lexi.
The boys really like the Nerf archery game and did several rounds of that. Zac and his friends came over and did it too, but the team they got paired up with was a bunch of cute little girls! So it was a bunch of 13 year old boys against a bunch of 7-8 year old girls. It was a little mismatched and kind of funny. We had a fun time but didn't stick around for the fireworks. We thought we'd try watching them from our roof (which was absolutely terrifying for this momma with her babies walking around on top of the roof!) but a huge tree was blocking our view so we gave up. It was, once again, a fun Energy Days celebration!
