Saturday we had a birthday party for Drake and Garrett. They will be 5 on Wednesday, the 14th. They have never had a friend party before and they were VERY excited. We had 6 neighborhood kids over for a Pirate themed party.
The kids were able to color some pirate pictures as we waited for all the guests to arrive.
Then we fed our hungry crew a pizza lunch.
Next we played a game using cannonballs. Each team started out with 11 cannonballs. There was a jump rope line down the middle of the room and the kids on the "ship" on the left side of the room threw cannon balls at the kids in the "ship" on the ride side of the room and vice versa. After one minute we counted how many cannonballs were on each side of the rope and the side with the most was "sunk." The kids were very excited about this game. It got a little wild!
Then we played a pin the treasure on the map game. Thank you Dollar Tree for the easy and fun game!
Drake borrowed his friend Sam's pirate hat for a little while. He looked pretty darn cute!
Garrett would make a pretty fierce pirate! We did a treasure hunt and the treasure included these eye patches, a telescope, a pirate ring, a whistle (it has nothing to do with Pirates, but Drake and Garret insisted that we buy them!) and some candy.
The kids put on their eye patches and yelled out a big Aaaarrggghhh!
We of course had some cake and ice cream. I used to always do fancy cakes that took hours and then just got eaten up without a thought as to how much work they took. Not this time! We made cupcakes and put blue icing (ocean) with a graham cracker island with an X marking the spot.
Then we opened presents. Drake and Garrett were so excited! They got lots of Legos which they thought was really cool because it's always been Zac who's gotten Lego Sets. They got some transformers. They also got a book, chalk and stickers, and each got a Hot Wheels launch set.
After their friends left they spent hours playing with the Hot Wheels set and the transformers. Then this morning Tyson helped them start putting together one of the Lego Sets. That's a couple of very happy almost 5 year olds!
