Hogle Zoo

On Sunday morning, Father's Day, we took Tyson to Denny's for breakfast (more on that in a later post) and then went to the Hogle Zoo. I really liked the way we did the zoo this time. Rather than just walk around staring at sleeping animals, we hit all the different training shows one after the other. First we watched the lion training, which isn't a real advertised show, you just have to be there at the right time. Then we watched the elephant show, the bird show, and then the seal/see lion show. After that we did spend some time looking at the other animals too. I just like the shows the most because you get to see the animals do tricks and the trainers tell you so much about the animals that you wouldn't learn just by reading their plaques. At the bird show we were in a perfect spot to have the birds swooping right over our heads, over and over. They were so close you could feel the wind gust as they flew past. I'm pretty sure a Golden Eagle came close to putting my eye out with a feather!

Check out the awesome optical illusion in the picture of us waiting for the elephant show. Look at where Zac's arm and my arm meet. It's a little freaky! I saw this picture and it took me a minute to figure out what was wrong with it! 

After spending several hours at the zoo we headed to the Leonardo for even more fun and adventures (and seeking out some air conditioning!) More on that in my next post.
