Utah Fine Arts Museum

Just before the kids went back to school after Christmas Break we decided to use our Utah Connect Passes for a little family activity.  So we drove up to Salt Lake and went to the Utah Fine Arts Museum.  We weren't sure how exciting it would be for the kids, but at least it would be a good cultural experience, right?!  We ended up staying for 2 hours and saw everything in the museum without a single complaint from any of the kids. Unless, of course, you count the fact that they thought the paintings in the European section were very scandalous! Those darn Europeans and their fascination with the human form, with or without it being fully clothed!

My favorite part was the amazing wood carvings that were over a thousand years old depicting the Hindu Gods and Goddesses.  The detail was incredible!  I also really liked all the old antique furniture and portraits of real people who lived long ago. I always wonder what their lives were like. Tyson loved the crazy blue-headed guy trying to catch his breath and the really colorful picture he and Zac are standing next to.  Lexi loved the room with pink ribbons hanging from the ceiling and the old typewriter. There was the book there that is 50,000 words long without ever using the letter E.  Zac had just been telling me about that book so it was cool to actually see it and read a bit of it. The boys all liked the "star" room, the tornado made of paper, and the pictures that had music to go with them. We had a fun time exploring and appreciating the talents of others!
