Spring Soccer

Last week we started Spring Soccer. I kind of hate spring soccer because it is so COLD and WINDY! But you kind of have to do both Spring and Fall seasons if you want your child to improve and keep up on their skills. So we generally spend lots of time during Spring watching practices from our nice warm car! That said though, the weather on Wednesday night was really cooperating for our soccer games. It was a beautiful day for it! Drake and Garrett are on team USA and they won their first game 5-3. Garrett scored three of the goals. Drake played defense most of the time so he didn't score any points this game, but he kept lots of plays from getting past him.

Zac is on team Germany this year. He played a really good game despite the fact that he had a sore foot. The game ended up tied at 1-1 (they don't do shoot outs at this age.) Zac scored the one goal for his team this game. He was able to kick the ball right through the goalie's legs. I love the look on his face when his teammate hugged him after the goal. He didn't quite know how to respond to that! We were very happy he was able to score a goal in the very first game of the season. I think that will help boost his confidence. Last Fall they had a hard time and didn't win any games and it was really getting him down.  Hopefully this season will be more enjoyable for him.
